Joey & Meg Wedding Photos – Billingsley House Upper Marlboro, MD

Our friend Joey married his crafty sweetheart Meg, and we were invited to capture their day! We trekked across the States with our friend Seth in tow, from Des Moines to Lexington, VA where Joey was first commissioning into the Navy and graduating with honors from Virginia Military Institute all just days before the wedding. It was quite the week! Lexington, VA is seated in the Shenandoah Valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It made for a stunning driving backdrop for a good part of our trip. We then headed to their wedding in Washington, DC where we were blessed to visit and stay with another friend, and then to Upper Marlboro, MD for the newlyweds beautiful reception. We were glad to celebrate with them and honored to capture their day. Many blessings to you Meg and Joey!

Josh & Carrie Vow Renewal Photos – Simpson Barn Johnston, Iowa

Our friend Josh asked for our help in planning a surprise vow renewal for his wife of 10 years. Mariah received full reign on all of the decor elements while Dave helped with set up and photography. Our friends Dave and Sarah at 1 Cup Awesome planned the menu which was a complete success. The day was warm, but that wasn’t the main contributor to our melting hearts. There couldn’t have been a dry eye in the place as Josh and Carrie exchanged the vows they wrote 10 years ago. Completely amazing and even more meaningful this time around with 10 years of history under their belts. Their son was able to join in on the party; it couldn’t have been sweeter. (This event was held at the Simpson Barn in Johnston, Iowa.)

Charles & Amanda Engagement Photos – Des Moines, Iowa

When discussing ideas for engagement photos, Amanda mentioned she didn’t want her photos to be in the middle of a cornfield and feel “country”. You may be able to tell by looking at a few of our photos that we actually really like shooting in fields and the openness of the countryside :), but this wasn’t a problem. With their ideas in mind, we spent some time scouting locations to give their photos the edginess Charles and Amanda wanted while also incorporating Charles’ love for cars. Not that it needs pointing out, but we think Amanda looked pretty darn gorgeous in her leather jacket and windswept hair.
