$10 DESK MAKEOVER
Woohoo! A pretty little DIY is about to grace your screen. Here’s the story:
My parents purchased this desk second-hand for my older brother during college. Since then I’ve used it a time or two, and last spring I once again dragged it out of their garage for use in our home office. I knew immediately I wanted to paint it. Looking back, I don’t think it was the green color I hated so much as the contrasting drawers. Regardless, after seeing this photo I was hooked on the idea of a salmon pink desk. When Dave was out of town last weekend, I finally got around to tackling this project. My pink is more of a bright coral than the original subdued salmon I fell for. I wanted to leave the top natural, and, worried there wouldn’t be enough contrast, I opted to brighten it up a bit. Since I already had paint brushes, sand paper and primer on hand, I completed this project for under $10. The two drawer pulls and two sample size paint containers came in at $9.86.
So here she is, my lovely coral desk. It’s probably irrational how much joy she brings me.

DIY SPRING 2014
Yay! It’s so fun to see your work finally go to print! Today Leslie is hard at work over in her home studio prepping for a photo shoot later this week. And today I want to show you just what she’s been up to this past year. In case you haven’t heard, Leslie is the talented gal behind all of our delicious baked goods. Wedding cake? Dessert bar? Cute labels and bags to go along? Yep, Leslie is the gal the for you! Leslie is also our in-house wedding planner and designer, but besides planning your wedding or next special event, Leslie designs and produces stories for Do It Yourself magazine. Below is the current issue of DIY where Leslie shows how to re-imagine spaces using trusted and true color-wheel principles.
That tiny tropical succulent you see was a gift from my cousin when he came to visit this weekend. He (the succulent, not my cousin) is proudly residing on the corner of my desk :) I’ve found I just feel better and generally happier when I have darling plants or pretty flowers around. You should give it a try.

Tiffany & Bobby Super 8 Wedding Film – Earlham, Iowa
Bobby and Tiffany had such a fun and personal wedding day. They got married at Tiffany’s childhood home in Earlham, Iowa. Their friends and family spent the days leading up to the wedding preparing the property and setting up for this lovely event. The weather was perfect, the dessert was delicious, and the drinks were a-plenty. Leslie acted as both maid-of-honor and Tiffany’s wedding planner leading up to the date. Below are some behind-the-scenes photos of what those gals dreamed up: lots of vintage china, homemade applesauce, antlers, and bicycle wheels (Bobby is a pedicab driver!).
Also, the string lights, cake stands, vintage silverware and china are available for rent!
Tiffany’s Bridal Brunch – Adel, Iowa
Leslie put together a french inspired bridal brunch for the lovely Tiffany. The menu was incredible: mesclun salad, yogurt parfaits with granola, fresh fruit skewers, breakfast meats, quiche, beignets, and Leslie’s famous crepe cake. Beverages included cold brew iced coffee, tea, and mimosas. All of the food was fresh and homemade, prepared by Leslie or the brides mum — just how we like it :)
